With both Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant returning to the Los Angeles Lakers starting lineup after missing time due to injuries, they couldn’t help their team get a home win over one of the worst club’s in the league, the Washington Wizards, as they loss by the score of 103-100 Friday night.

Wizards forward Trevor Ariza made seven shots from beyond the arc, a career-high for him, as he scored a game-high 25 points to go along with John Wall, who put up 24 points and dished out 16 assists in helping Washington comeback from being down 18 points in the second half to get the victory.

Kobe Bryant finished with 21 points and 11 assists, Dwight Howard added 20 points and 15 rebounds and Pau Gasol put up only four points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers record fell to 36-34 on the NBA season.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol plans on returning next week from a torn plantar fascia injury that has kept him sidelined for the past five weeks.

Gasol spoke to reporters and said,

“Everything else is possible. I’m not going to hold myself back if I think I’m ready to play. There’s not many games left in the season and every game will be valuable to us. We’re keeping our options open. We’re trying to see how I progress over the next few days.”

Pau Gasol will be in the Los Angeles Lakers starting lineup when he returns next week, replacing Earl Clark.

As Pau Gasol is continuing to rehab his torn plantar fascia in his foot, he has worked out on a treadmill all this week.

Gasol told reporters that,

“Discomfort was minimal, which is very encouraging.”

With that said, Gasol will most likely not be back within the next week.

Barring any unfortunate setbacks, Gasol should be running at full speed starting next week.

Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni has said over and over that he is looking forward to Gasol’s return. However, when reporters asked D’Antoni about Pau Gasol starting or coming off the bench when he does return, D’Antoni replied,

“We don’t have to go there yet, do we?”

Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol injury to his right foot forced him to leave the game during the fourth quarter versus the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. The injury was diagnosed as a plantar fascia, and Gaosl was seen leaving the arena on crutches.

Gasol admitted after the game that he’s “worried” about his injury. He has an MRI scheduled for Wednesday after the Lakers land in Boston. Pau Gasol also noted last week that he had been playing with pain in his right foot, and he rated the pain level en eight out of ten.

Pau Gasol tried to play through the pain at first, however after only one trip down the court, he asked head coach Mike D’Antoni to be subbed out as he went back into the locker room to get evaluated.
