Howard, who missed the previous three games due to a shoulder injury, scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers by the score of 113-93.

Guard Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 23 points for Los Angeles as they finally notched their first win of 2013. Dwight Howard shot 9 of 11 to help his team get revenge after losing to the Cavaliers earlier last month.

Center Dwight Howard will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this NBA season.

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker put up 24 points as his team handed the Los Angeles Lakers their fifth loss in a row by the score of 108-105 Wednesday night.

San Antonio Spurs bench players Manu Ginobili scored 19 points along with Stephen Jackson and Tiago Splitter each scoring 14 points for their team that won their 11th home game in a row. Splitter also grabbed 14 rebounds, a career-high for him.

Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 27 points, Metta World Peace chipped in 23 points and Earl Clark came off the bench to add 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Lakers. Bryant shot 10 of 24, which included missing a three-pointer at the end of the game that would have tied it up. Clark missed the following three-pointer coming off a long rebound.

Even though Steve Nash passes the 10,000 assist mark, it comes during a very frustrating time for his team.

Steve Nash, who is 38 years of age, admitted after the game that he has dangerously considered that Los Angeles, regardless of all the preseason hype and championship desires surrounding the team, may miss out on the playoffs this NBA season.

The Los Angeles Lakes record is currently 15-19, and they are in 11th place in the Western Conference.

Jeannie Buss Twitter account had a pic of the diamond ring Phil Jackson gave her, along with the message:

Kobe Bryant put up 34 points in his 15th Christmas Day game, a NBA record, and forward Metta World Peace chipped in 20 points along with seven rebounds while having the daunting task of guarding New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, who scored a team-high 34 points of his own.

Kobe Bryant has now scored 30 points or more for the ninth consecutive game.

However, Steve Nash is not giving off a warm and fuzzy feeling regarding the Los Angeles Lakers current predicament. Steve Nash spoke after practice on Monday saying,

“Hopefully, we can continue to win. We’ve won four in a row and we can keep this going and put ourselves back in contention, but we should be a desperate team right now.”
