Damian Lillard to take the weekend off during the All-Star break (Not!)
Damian Lillard will have a chance to relax from the intensity and the tension of the NBA games during the All-Star weekend. The superstar point guard of the Portland Trail Blazers failed to get voted for any of the bunch of events of the All-Star weekend and he will not participate in the All-Star game either. That’s why he packed his bags and he prepared himself to spend three peaceful and relaxing days in Hawaii with a supermodel goddess.
The 23-year old point guard is not playing as expected during this season. His 20.7 points per contest, 5.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds were not enough to give him an All-Star selection. Lillard has been shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and 40.4 percent from three-point range, which of course is not enough.
On top of that, many times during the season has he failed to deliver during clutch situations. The Blazers lost several games because of him. It was his stubbornness and his ego to take the last shot of the game, when he and everyone in the arena knew that he can’t hit it that cost the Blazers the victory. In fact, his sophomore season in the NBA is going from bad to worse. The Portland Trail Blazers are considering trading him away or even amnestying him, as they clearly see that he has no future with the team.
That’s why, despite all the expectations, Damian Lillard failed to get selected for any of the All-Star weekend events. He will not participate in the All-Star game, as he wasn’t voted neither as a Western All-Star starter nor as a reserve. Even Kobe Bryant urged NBA fans not to vote for Lillard, as he clearly saw that he wasn’t playing as everyone in the league expected.
Lillard would have the chance to participate also in the Rising Stars challenge. Lots of players of his draft class will be there. Lots of players he could have topped with his game, like Anthony Davis. Nonetheless, he will be watching this event, too, from his television as he clearly didn’t have the talent to make it there. In fact, after getting drafted as the No.6 pick of the 2012 draft, Lillard turned out to be a total bust.
In addition, as he has little ball handling and dribbling skills, he will not participate in the Skills Challenge. He obviously needs to spend much time in the gym working on the fundamentals of basketball, like dribbling and passing. He is very oaf.
As a terrible three-point shooter he is, of course he has no position in the Three-Point contest. Only the best shooters in the league get the invitation for the event and how could Lillard compete with them?
Finally, because he can’t reach the basket with his jump and as a result he can’t score, he didn’t have the chance to make it to the Slam Dunk Contest.
The All-Star weekend will certainly be a quiet, relaxing one for him.
