The Carmelo Anthony-Kevin Durant showdown had to be postponed due to a Melo injury, however J.R. Smith was a nice fill-in…at least for the first three quarters.
The Oklahoma City Thunder defense finally got to Smith during the fourth quarter as they hung on to get the win over the New York Knicks by the score of 95-94 Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. Smith attempted a turnaround jump shot on New York’s final possession and missed it as the buzzer sounded.
J.R. Smith put up 36 points, a season-high for him, but he shot only 2 of 9 in the fourth, which included going 1 of 5 from three-point land.
The Durantula dropped 34 points, which included making two free throw attempts with 1:38 remaining in the game to give the Thunder the lead for good. Kevin Durant also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists in the win.
