The Orlando Magic are in a deep rebuilding mode. The pickup of Victor Oladipo from the draft this summer was just the first step. The Magic are now 9-20 in the season and they are heading all the way for another lottery pick next summer. However, during this process, they have seen their veteran swingman, Arron Afflalo, emerging as a star and recording a career-season.

The 28-year old guard is putting up huge numbers, way above his career-averages. He is averaging 22 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three-point range. He is the leading scorer of the team and he is gradually emerging as a star.

Although Afflalo hasn’t yet built a reputation, a name in the league and whilst he will need to continue and deliver with consistency, this season he is showing dominant signs. His performance has drawn much interest from a bunch of teams around the NBA. According to multiple reports, the Orlando Magic are receiving several requests from teams around the NBA regarding Afflalo’s availability.

Of course, the Magic reject all offers at the moment. Although Afflalo is recording huge performances, he hasn’t yet gained the value the Magic would want in order to trade him away. However, if he continues to play like that, there might come an offer Orlando won’t be able to turn down. But for now, the best option for the team is to stay pat and enjoy Aaron Afflalo’s emergence.

The 6’5” shooting guard is averaging 10.7 points for his career to go along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assist, 46.1 percent shooting from the field and 39.0 percent from three-point territory. Although he has always been a valuable member of any team he has played for, he never really stood out of his teammates. Afflalo has been and continues to be an excellent defender. He is playing lockdown defense in the perimeter and he is even good at guarding opposing stars.

However, his offensive game is the one that really makes the difference this season. Afflalo has exploded offensively and he continues to do so almost every night. In his last three games he is averaging 25 points while shooting an unbelievable 62.5 percent from the floor.

It seems that the more the time passes, the more value Afflalo gains. There is really no indication what the limits are for him. And it’s also uncertain if he can continue to be as dominant if he becomes a member of a team that features another star player. Because the Orlando Magic is currently a team with not much of a quality.

Nevertheless, Arron Afflalo is definitely an emerging player this season and in fact, at the moment he is one of the top 5 shooting guards in the league. So the interest from teams around the league is expected to continue to grow. So a potential trade should not be precluded.
